As people age, it’s important to have appropriate information about aged care options especially for people from historically marginalised communities. Mosaic empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people to better manage their own care, to support them to be active participants in decisions around aged care services they receive, and to improve overall health outcomes.Containing resources for LGBTI people, their partners, families of choice, aged care workers, and aged care service providers, the app is designed so that everyone can make informed choices and receive better quality, safe, inclusive care. Aged care service providers can profile their safe inclusive services and receive guidance on strengthening their commitment to an LGBTI inclusive service.Mosaic was designed with, by, and for the LGBTI communities. The Rainbow of Difference project is a partnership between the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Uniting and was funded by the Australian Government. Central to the design of Mosaic are the inclusive person centred care principles that underpin best practice in aged care. Mosaic goes beyond best practice by encouraging care team members to develop trust, to get to know their clients through shared storytelling and to reflect on what personal, organisational and cultural factors impact on safe inclusive care.
